Sis. Nelia Sambajon, 41, Former Catholic, Bataan Province

On Joining the Church of God

It’s because it’s good, and I really liked it.

I’ve been listening for a long time, since about a few months now. His [Bro. Eliseo] answers are truly from the Bible. He is able to answer every question properly.

I was actually excited [to hear the doctrines]. I was really excited to the point that I couldn’t sleep. It was a joyful experience.

On Being Baptized

I felt relieved and light. I felt that my sins and ill feelings were fully washed away. I felt happy because finally, I’m [now] a member of the true religion.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I wish you good luck as what you preach is really good. I hope that you will continue doing so.

~o~

Sis. Pastora Cudal, 30, Former Catholic, Isabela Province

On Joining the Church of God

Out of all the religions I’ve been to, it’s only here in the Church of God wherein I got enlightened and had a good mind that understands what is good. [It began] when I started listening to Bro. Eli…

Well, I’ve been to all religions already, but at the end of the day I still didn’t feel content. Also, my attitude was still the same. Sometimes I would get irritated and I didn’t know why.

As it turns out, it was just a natural result of being anxious, and that what I really just needed was faith.

On Being Baptized

I feel good with God’s help and mercy. It’s a very pleasant feeling.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Many, many thanks to God for He gave us an instrument like Bro. Eli who preaches the truth.

~o~

Sis. Celsa Galing, 45, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

Even on the first time we heard the preaching, we saw that what they were saying was good, and that was seven years ago.

Our brother in Canada, Bro. Crisanto Galing, was the first to become a member. When he came home for vacation, he told us about this.

I told him that we watched and listened [to Bro. Eliseo] on TV. So he took us to the locale.

On Being Baptized

It’s different. I can’t understand the feeling. I just felt light.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that their preaching will continue despite many hindrances. I hope that they will still be there to teach what’s right.

~o~

Sis. Ludivina Aragay, 59, Former Catholic, Bataan Province

On Joining the Church of God

My husband told me, “Maybe you would like to join?” I replied, “Surely I will. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Whenever I remember that, I cry because he just died [of lung cancer] this August of 2015. He was just one-month old in the Church.

I said to him before he died, “I will continue what you have started. No problem.”

– – – – –

He told me that he was certain where he was headed. And I’m glad that he knew already. “I know where I’m going,” he said.

He also advised us to not have a wake for him, but that he should be buried straightaway.

I told them that that’s what he wanted. I didn’t want to disobey him as that’s what would make him happy.

On Being Baptized

Relieved. I felt that my doubts were gone, then happy afterwards. We’re all happy people here, that’s what I felt.

As my children said, “Mom, if you’re happy there, then we won’t stop you.” They understand.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that they will continue what they started, and I hope that until the end, I will be here with Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

Bro. Oliver Monteloyola, 42, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

This is where I heard the true doctrines, and they’re really good. They will truly go right into your heart and mind.

I’ve long been seeing him [Bro. Eliseo, on TV], but I just ignored him back then. Recently, I was able to listen to him again, and I felt that…

I have also been indoctrinated in the Iglesia ni Cristo, but I wasn’t satisfied with their teachings. That’s why I got baptized here.

On Being Baptized

I feel relieved.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that they will be able to help many more people like me. I hope that many others will be able to hear them, because the true teachings are here.

~o~

Sis. Mary Beth Villanueva, 20, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I learned the truth here. My mother brought me with her in attending Church services. It’s good. I learned a lot.

I felt like crying [the first time I attended]. I guess it was because I remembered all the sins I have done.

On Being Baptized

I’m happy.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Many thanks to them because I have been enlightened because of their teachings.

~o~

Sis. Grace De Vera, 41, Former Mormon, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I believe that the true teachings of God are here.

When my brother and I were still young, we used to watch him [Bro. Eliseo] on IBC 13, if I’m not mistaken.

Then it was gone. A few months after that, I tried to watch it again. I said, “Oh, The Old Path is still on.”

So I listened to it again. That’s when I heard the answers to the questions I had that my previous religion wasn’t able to answer.

– – –

My brother is already a member in Abu Dhabi. So he told me, “Ate [elder sister], try first to attend the indoctrination as that is the beginning.”

He also told me that it’s okay to attend other Church services, but that I needed to learn the doctrines of Jesus Christ first. So I got encouraged.

Every time I listen to a topic, it’s like there’s something urging me to go on. So even if my husband tried to dissuade me, I disregarded that and still continued listening daily [to the doctrines].

Then, when it was only a few days left [till baptism], my husband didn’t scold me about attending anymore. [Laughs]

On Being Baptized

It’s different. I can’t explain it. I just really feel light.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, please continue in teaching for many more souls to be lead unto salvation.

~o~

Sis. Nilda Ledesma, 38, Former Born Again Member, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I have long been watching [The Old Path program], ever since I was a maiden, and its teachings come from the Bible. All the teachings are good. No evil is taught here.

In my previous religion, you need to give 10% or tithes. From the way I see it, they’re just about being snobby or snooty there.

Here, people are down-to-earth. Even those who have high positions are humble.

On Being Baptized

I’m happy.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I thank them for teaching the truth, for telling it faithfully to people as life is much better when you have God.

~o~

Sis. Catherine Fuentes, 17, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I kept on listening to Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, and [eventually], I wanted to join already.

I found the teachings to be truly good. Also, it’s here where my beliefs have been changed. I learned all the right teachings and truths. This is where I heard everything.

On Being Baptized

I’m happy. I’m happy because now I am here.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m thankful for them for their instruction. I learned by listening to what they are preaching.

Sis. Germaine Apor, 27, Former Catholic Manila

On Joining the Church of God

My partner for five years has been a member since 2006, so he accompanies me to gatherings. Actually, his entire family are members.

Before I just saw Bro. Eli on television. I didn’t listen to him though; his channel was something that I just passed by as I surfed.

It was in the Locale of Marikina on a Saturday [when I first attended]. It was a Thanksgiving service. It struck me as different at first because the people were singing and dancing; it didn’t feel strange though.

I really couldn’t say anything about [the doctrines]. I have long been a Catholic. When I was a child, I also tried to be a Born Again member. But never did I recall that we did a Bible Study. Here, you will really understand something, and you can apply it.

On Being Baptized

I feel so light. It’s like the feeling after a normal shower, only 100 times better!

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Is there anything I can say that means more than “Thank you”? If they weren’t there, many people would not be able to return unto the Lord. There are so many people here because of them.

If there’s one word that means greater than “Thank you,” that’s what I would say.

~o~

Sis. Nenita Calunsay, 60, Former Catholic, Leyte Province

On Joining the Church of God

I wanted to join. I didn’t join any other church but this as I like it here. Also, all explanations are clear. I liked them. In Catholicism, I didn’t like it there.

Sis. Perlita was the one who invited me here. She has been a member for five years now.

On Being Baptized

I feel pleasant and light.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m thankful for them because if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be member of the Church today.

I’m thankful for everything they have taught; nothing is evil. All of the things they taught are good.

I just really wanted to join. Actually, I didn’t force my husband to come with me. I just pursued to get indoctrinated and become a member here in the Church of God.

~o~

Sis. Angelica Delos Santos, 38, Former Iglesia ni Cristo, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

It’s because I heard Bro. Eli’s doctrines. My husband was the first to be indoctrinated, and he brought me with him to gatherings. He was just baptized last July 24, 2015.

My mind was enlightened, and the word of God entered my heart that’s why I was enlightened.

I was a handog (offering) in the Iglesia. My parents, even my grandparents from both sides of the family, are Iglesia ni Cristo members.

Wearing modest apparel is something that they did only occasionally. Also, the contributions there are many.

On Being Baptized

I felt relieved, as if all my doubts in life are gone. My wrong faith has been changed.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Eli, many thanks for your doctrines. My heart and mind have been enlightened by the true teachings of God written in the Bible.

~o~

Sis. Ivy Salonga, 32, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I like what Bro. Eli is preaching; we have watched him on television since about two years ago. My husband liked it too, so we decided to attend indoctrination.

Regarding the doctrines, I’m already 32 years old and it’s my first time to hear the one about women’s apparel. In a free religion, there are no prohibitions.

On Being Baptized

I feel happy. I can’t explain it, but my tears just suddenly fell back there. Perhaps, it was because of the relief I felt inside.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that you will continue you works for people like me who are sinful, that many more may return unto God.

Bro. Isabelo Ibajo, 63, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

There are many reasons. I woke up in this world with my parents being Catholics. Then, they made me become a Seventh-Day Adventist; however, I didn’t like the preaching.

Many years passed by and I would return to Catholicism. I had a wife. I went to Saudi Arabia. But actually, before I went to Saudi, I had already heard of Bro. Eli’s preaching in 1980.

I just couldn’t give attention and time to it then as I was focused on my work and going abroad. I spent eight years in Saudi, but what I heard from Bro. Eli never left my mind.

– – – – –

When I returned here in the Philippines, I had a problem with my family. My wife sold our house and lot in Fortune Village, and went with another man. So when I got here, my mind was already troubled. I couldn’t give time to being indoctrinated.

I went back to our province. When I was there, my mind was restless. So now, I strove to reach this place that I may continue with what I heard from Bro. Eli Soriano.

I watch UNTV on my cell phone; it’s only through this that I tuned into his program. I listen daily, nightly. Actually, its antenna already got broken because I rolled over onto it [in bed]. [Laughs]

On Being Baptized

I felt light after I got immersed in the water. I’m greatly thankful for it; I even cried. It’s because this has long been a dream of mine, and now, it has finally come true.

As I was changing my clothes, I was thanking the Lord that my dream has been realized. If my wife didn’t go astray then, perhaps I would have been a member already long ago.

I really feel relieved right now. I don’t feel constrained anymore. So when we were clapping our hands a while ago, even my shouts were on the top of my lungs.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I am greatly thankful that my dreams finally came true. Thank you very much Bro. Eli. The brethren in the Locale of Biga told me that there was a locale in Dasmariñas in the province of Cavite. I told them that I just heard from Bro. Eli that there was a locale here. So when I found it, I was really thankful to God that my dreams have come true.

Bro. Michael Guela, 24, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

His teachings are good; they are from the Bible. It’s really good, and are according to the way and instruction of the Lord.

On Being Baptized

I felt light. It feels good inside.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that God will continue to guide them.

~o~

Sis. Letty Manilag, 65, Former Catholic, Laguna Province

On Joining the Church of God

My son is from China, and he got baptized there. When he came here in the Philippines, he invited us.

At first, I didn’t like it. Then he told me, “Mama, please come attend with me. You’re just going to listen.”

So I went with him, and my in-law and other child and their housemate also joined us. As I listened, I realized that what Bro. Eli says is true. And then I liked it already.

– – – – –

Before, we would just laugh at him [my son], because even when he was just studying, he already listened to Bro. Eli.

We would laugh at him. I even said to him, “Maybe you’re going to be a minister also one day.” I just joked about it, and he just let me.

Time passed by and he went abroad. One day, he called me to seek my permission. He said, “Mama, I’m going to get baptized here.” Now, when he went home, he brought us here.

On Being Baptized

It’s like all my ill feelings have been taken away. Before, I had bad blood towards my husband. My husband always drinks, but he came with us when we attended the indoctrination. Last night, he even went with us. But I don’t think he’s ready yet.

My daughter got baptized, my youngest; she’s here now. So, there are three of us now here. I was formerly a Catholic, and nightly I would pray to God. I said, “Loving Father, please direct me where I should go, because there are many religions now.”

As I listened to Bro. Eli, I felt that it’s what I want. And it’s because I understood everything.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Now that I have been baptized here, I’m exceedingly thankful that I have found a place where true worship of God is.

~o~

Bro. Ariel Bacolod, 28, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

I wanted to know the true God and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, that my soul may have a guide. That’s the main purpose why I joined.

Last year, around November of 2014, I was able to listen via the Internet, and it went on from there.

All the doctrines that Bro. Eli says are all from God; they are from the Bible. I watched all of his debates on the Internet.

On Being Baptized

I feel blessed. All the emotional burdens that I carried in my heart, the sins I have committed are now gone.

I realized what the result would have been had I not been baptized, having done many sins before. We need the process of baptism to be saved. That is its purpose.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

My message for both of them is that may they continue their works that other people will be saved as well. I’m certain that they are the instruments of God for those who don’t know anything about salvation to be able to listen to them and be sure of it.

~o~

Bro. James Manrique, 16, Former KNC, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

This is the only religion that I have found to be true. What Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel say is the truth.

I was formerly a KNC [Kawan ng Cordero or Flock of Lambs]. Ever since I was a child, I have already been active in Church activities. I also listened during Thanksgivings and Bible studies. I have been away from the KNC for five years though as I lived with my grandmother who is a Catholic.

On Being Baptized

It’s different; it’s really a different feeling. I can’t explain it.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Thank you and I love you.

Sis. Delia Altobar, 53, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

We [she and her family] started listening on TV. We watched him [Bro. Eliseo] and listened to his words about God.

We watched him for three months. Afterwards, we immediately sought The Old Path. We really searched for it ourselves and didn’t confide with other people. We found the locale in San Isidro Dos in Paombong, Bulacan.

Bro. Eli explains well the words of God that’s why we decided to join here.

On Being Baptized

I’m elated, of course!

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that they will have a longer time in serving people across the whole world. Thanks be to God!

~o~

Bro. Lonillo Jereza, 42, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

I started listening because of my workmate as he is a brother-in-faith. I’m a soldier, and he introduced the program of Bro. Eli to me.

I have watched it on television since then. Sometimes, when I was alone, I would go up to [my room] and watch it on my tablet. There are channels that my tablet is able to pick up.

Bro. Eli’s preaching is different. You will really see that what he says is true. You will feel it.

—-

I read the Bible, and as I listen to the verses, I read them at the same time. That’s why I decided to get indoctrinated.

I experienced some hindrances while I was being indoctrinated, like those coming from someone who is of a higher rank than me at work. But with God’s mercy, I was able to continue. You just really need to have faith in Him.

Actually, before I came here last night, one of my children didn’t go home immediately, and there was no one else to take care of my other children.

I was worried at first [that I might not be able to attend] because my wife also worked. But I thought it good to let my faith go to work. It’s like when the Lord Jesus Christ told Peter to be strong in faith.

On Being Baptized

I feel happy. My life was changed because of my listening [to Bro. Eliseo]. I was cleansed; I had a great change in me.

I have finally attained the true faith. I feel different now that I have been baptized.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Thanks be to God for them. Because of them, I was able to hear sound doctrine.

I hope that the Lord will give them more strength to be able to preach that they may be able to reach many more people, so that the true faith will be propagated and that many more will worship God.

~o~

Bro. Rodrigo Altobar, 81, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I have long been listening. Now, for the longest time that I have been searching, I didn’t know where I could go.

I asked about [a locale] as my wife didn’t know one too. It turned out, the one I have been looking for is just near [referring to the Locale of Paombong]

I saw here all the truth that I did not see in other religions. Ever since I was a… I really didn’t feel this emotional relief in my being then.

On Being Baptized

Of course, it’s like my being has been changed. I feel that all the errors I have committed… [Cries] It’s only now that I felt like this.

This is why I’m greatly thankful that I was able to listen to Bro. Eli. That is when my consciousness, my emotion was awakened.

I’m thankful for being baptized. I feel that my life has changed. That’s all.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that the minds and paths of many more people will be enlightened.

Bro. Arvi Eucogco, 50, Former Born Again Group Member, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

The teachings are pure and it isn’t just seemingly true, but really true.

I have been a member of another church before, but this is the only one that teaches undefiled truth.

You can see that the teachings are in the Bible. All the questions here are answered by the Bible. It is not mingled with other doctrines. The teachings here are truly pure.

At first it was through TV, on UNTV that I listened [to Bro. Eliseo]. In the end, I had a relative who was already a member and he invited me.

I attended and I continued with the indoctrination until I have decided to be baptized.

On Being Baptized

I felt light; the burden is gone. I felt that I emerged from the water content and peaceful.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that Bro. Eli will continue spreading the good word of God. May God continue to be with him in such a good work as this. I hope that he’ll be able to lead many more souls.

~o~

Sis. Nina Cayanan, 37, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I have been looking for something lacking in my life. That’s what I felt.

Though I attended mass, I felt that there was something missing. I have long felt since. Only, I didn’t know how to begin [searching].

I have a friend [Bro. Red Arce] who is a Church member abroad; we chatted. One time, I shared my problem.

Then he said, “It’s time already. God is calling you.” I replied, “How am I going to start?”
He gave me an address and contact numbers of the Locale in Angeles.

I just went there, and on the same day I attended the current indoctrination topic that was being discussed. Afterwards, we arranged a schedule for me to be able to make up for the indoctrination topics I missed from the introductory session.

—-

Actually, the first time I attended was when my mother-in-law took me to a Thanksgiving service. That was really my first time.

She then advised me to get indoctrinated. But I was still working and I had many excuses, like my schedule and so on.

She said, “It will all work out.” But I didn’t get indoctrinated then. I just really didn’t have any idea about it.

After a month, I chatted [my friend]. I told him that I still haven’t changed, and I felt that something was still lacking. Then something happened to me and I faced a problem. He told me, “It’s really time for you to return to Him.”

On Being Baptized

I felt light, like there was a light inside of me.

After immersion, I felt as if something welcomed me. It felt sudden. I didn’t even feel that they held me and submerged me under water.

When I got out of the water it was like there was light. It was really bright.

I felt light because the wrong things I did in the past, the people I’ve hurt as a human being before, have been forgiven today. I learned how to forgive and ask for forgiveness. I was really relieved.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m so very thankful that God used them as instruments for us to know the truth. They were instruments for us to return unto Him who created us.

~o~

Sis. Carmela Gascon, 39, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

It was in the Year 2014, before I went to work, that I got invited [to an MCGI service]. I said, “Perhaps at some other time.”

I was busy at work then. I seldom went to church; sometimes, I really didn’t go to church when I was in Catholicism.

Many months passed, and I thought about what Bro. Jeffrey told me. He was the one who lead me here that sometimes we would be mistaken by others as having a relationship. But it’s not like that at all. [laughs]

—-

He already has a family. He invited me last year. January, February, March had passed by and still I didn’t attend [the indoctrination]. I always said, “Later.” I always disregarded what he told me about…

Bro. Jeff was my high school classmate. He told me to try this out. “Now, if you will feel something different in your spiritual life, then that’s it already,” he told me.

When I went to the Locale of Layunan, I saw the brethren there. I said, “The brotherhood is beautiful.” They entertained me well, and they didn’t pry into my personal life. They will really guide you spiritually… All they spoke of was the word of God.

I am really an investigator actually; I’m like the NBI. May the Lord forgive me, but I really don’t just join an organization. I scrutinize it first.

It’s like choosing from suitors. We should know first whether their nature is really well. Now for me, I assessed first this organization for me to know if it’s really true.

For me, I can see that it really is good, and I believe that my life’s direction will be good once I became a member.

On Being Baptized

When I was getting baptized, my body was shaking, especially when Bro. Eli was speaking. I felt that there was something wrong in me that I needed to change.

I told myself, “What can I do? I’m only human.” [I felt] something descending upon me, and I didn’t understand what it was. I was just crying. I didn’t want to. “Why am I crying like this?” I asked.

Until I reached the stairs of the baptistery, I was shaking. I couldn’t understand it. “Is this the gift of the Holy Spirit that I need to get down [into the water]?”

Now after I was immersed, it felt like there was a light that flowed in my entire being. I said, “Perhaps this is the truth that I have been truly searching for.”

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I thank Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel because I heard from them [how to] live a spiritual life, as well as the [standards] of morality that men should have.

It is the reason why I hope that I will be able to teach it to my children that they may not be lost, until they have their own families.

~o~

Bro. Reinerio Matillano and Bro. Evaristo Dy, 61 & 65, Former Catholics, Batangas Province

On Joining the Church of God

Bro. Reinerio: I was able to watch on UNTV the question-and-answer program. People asked Bro. Eli questions and he answered them through the Bible. That’s why I was so convinced that all his answers are based on the Scriptures. That’s why I believe.

Bro. Evaristo: Same with me. [Laughs] I also watched, almost daily. For example, when I was watching another program and it would be time for a commercial break, I would return to Bro. Eli’s. Then, I’d return to the program I was watching, and then to Bro. Eli again. When there’s nothing good to watch, I tune in to Bro. Eli.

On TV, just click through the channels and you will find it [Ang Dating Daan or The Old Path]. For example, you’re not watching anything, you’ll eventually find it [and say,] “Wow, this is good. I’m going to watch it.”

Bro. Reinerio: Mine seemed like an accident. I was in Manila and whenever I didn’t have work, I would go home and see the channels on TV.

I saw UNTV and Bro. Eli was on. There were many people that were asking him questions. “This topic is good,” I told myself.

There are many questions and yet he is able to answer them. The answers are well because they are from the Bible, and are read to you, and you can read [the verses] as well.

It’s unlike in other groups. The one I was formerly in had masses on Sundays wherein they read a small portion of the Bible. And that’s the topic that they’re going to focus on until the mass ended. Nothing more. You’ll learn nothing. I reached this age, and it’s like I’m still on level zero.

Bro. Evaristo: I wondered if priests read the Bible?

Bro. Reinerio: They read it, but they don’t want to say to people what is written.

Bro. Evaristo: And it’s like they don’t want to accept it. Perhaps it’s because priests study for 10 or 12 years, and then someone will say they’re wrong.

Bro. Reinerio: They say that the reason why babies get baptized is because they will go to Limbo once they die [unbaptized].

Now, the Pope who resigned [Pope Ratzinger] said that he didn’t believe in Limbo. They removed Limbo, and yet their church didn’t say it. In other words, they still deceive their fellowmen.

Why does [an unbaptized] baby, which committed no sin, when it dies cannot go [to heaven]? And yet when a criminal who killed many, who disrupted many lives because of shabu, dies, then people will just pray for him?

Even if the whole world prays for you, that won’t save you, especially with the grave sin you have done. Besides, when you’re dead already, how can you repent?

Bro. Evaristo: For me, priests may or may not know the things that are in the Bible, just like worshipping idols.

Perhaps one reason why they still remain in that is because they studied being a priest for 10 years, and then they would be told they’re wrong.

It’s like this: If you’re addicted to cigarettes, to drugs, and you’re told it’s bad, you’re going to have a hard time leaving it.

On Being Baptized

Bro. Reinerio: When I was being asked [by the baptizer], I cried because I really want to throw away all my evil ways before. Hopefully, with this opportunity given me, with His guidance, I will triumph in serving Him.

Bro. Evaristo: I felt light, like the burdens I had were taken away.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Reinerio: I hope that Bro. Eli continues to succeed, that hopefully, if he won’t be able to bring [the Word] to the whole world, perhaps even to just one billion of our population.

I have goosebumps thinking about what happened to me. I didn’t expect this spirit in me. I hope his life will be longer. I think he’s still strong; despite his physical being is quite weak already. The same for Bro. Daniel

Bro. Evaristo: May he continue his preaching, and may his life be longer.

Sis. Richjane Canas, 22, Former Iglesia ni Cristo, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

As a believer, we search for the truth. And I found it here.

It’s kind of like an accident [how I knew this]. I was formerly an INC (Iglesia ni Cristo); then I got excommunicated. Coincidentally, with the many groups I’ve been in, I ended up here.

I was able to come here and be with the members here. They were the ones who lead me here.

On Being Baptized

I felt light; I was even crying. Of course I was happy because I was one of them who got called.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope they won’t tire in preaching to other people. I hope they’ll be given longer lives.

A Quarter-Filled with Heightened Global Evangelization and Charity Efforts to Culminate in MCGI’s 3-Day International Thanksgiving to God

When the Members Church of God International (MCGI) celebrates its three-day quarterly International Thanksgiving to God next month, the whole congregation will look back to a quarter filled with a series of relentless evangelization and charitable activities efforts mounted locally and internationally.

Spearheaded by MCGI Overall Servants Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon, the ITG will be held simultaneously in different corners of the world from July 3 to 5 this year.

This event draws thousands of congregants from various parts of the world to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving and to praise God for all His guidance and blessings.

A Quarter-full of Charities

For the past quarter, the Church’s Youth Ministry teamed up with the Bible Readers Society International (Bread Society) and participated in the “Brigada Eskwela” campaign being held by the Department of Education (DepEd).

With the goal of gearing and sprucing up classrooms for the opening of another school year, the Youth Ministry and Bread Society members donated materials, cleaned and repainted rooms in several public schools across Metro Manila.

The MCGI’s Youth Ministry, Bread Society and the DepEd have been partners in this project since 2003.

Locally and abroad, MCGI has made a name for itself for its blood donation efforts; and the past quarter has proven to be as fruitful as before.

Blood drives have been scheduled in various points in the country, with the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga as one of its major event venues. For the past quarter, the effort kicked off on June 14, 2015.

MCGI coordinating centers abroad also joined the charity effort by conducting blood donation drives in their respective locations.

Church members from Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and the U.S., to name a few, participated in the Church’s scheduled blood donation drive programs, in partnership with government and non-government associations.

Due to the concerted efforts of the brethren in Asia during its blood drive in Southeast Asia, MCGI was recognized by Singapore’s Red Cross Society and awarded the group the Top Donor Prize last June 6, 2015.

Meanwhile, medical missions reached even more indigents as the Clinic ni Kuya Daniel branch located in the UNTV Motorpool in Congressional, Quezon City, has gone mobile this quarter.

This mobile effort aims to cover one barangay area on a daily basis – both near and far – to bring free medical assistance to more citizens daily. The effort has been going on since May this year.

MCGI, through UNTV, also continues its People’s Day visits in baranggays across Metro Manila. The outreach project provides medical support, such as general, dental and eye check-ups, as well as free pharmaceutical drugs to those in need.

Sharing the Anticipation, Spiritual Propagation on the Web

The Church’s official social networking pages have launched a PNK or Pasalamat ng Katawan Countdowns, where different brethren share what they are most thankful to God for.

Meanwhile, brethren looking forward to the event took to social media to express their reasons for giving thanks to God.

Also utilizing the web to do good is Bro. Soriano, who had written more than 10 blog articles on his ControversyExtraordinary.com blog during the past quarter.

Apart from blogging, the international televangelist also conducts weekly Bible Expositions for his constituents in South and Central America, particularly Brazilian and Spanish-speaking audiences.

The Bible-based symposium is being streamed through the Church’s official Youtube channels.

For his global work in bringing God’s words to people of different nations, Bro. Eli was conferred the Outstanding Global Evangelist award by the National Consumer Affairs Foundation (NCAF).

The multi-awarded Bro. Soriano also continues to frequent Twitter, answering spiritual Q&As of his growing number of Twitter followers.

Twitter is also the birthplace of his successful invitation to launch a benefit concert for the Fallen 44’s families and loved ones – the “Songs for Heroes” concert. The first “Songs for Heroes” concert gathered more than six million pesos for the families of the brave soldiers who fought for the nation’s safety.

Marking the end of the quarter will be the follow up concert entitled “Songs for Heroes 2: To Die for Thee,” to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 30, 2015.

The International Thanksgiving to God celebration of the Members Church of God International will be participated by different points across the world, with the ADD Convention Center in Pampanga serving as its main venue. The event will commence at 6 a.m. (PHT).

Newly Baptized Testimonials: March 13, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on March 13, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Cesar Suva, 50, Former Freelancer, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

For me this is the true Church. This is where I found the true teachings of Christ, not the tradition of men, not the knowledge of men, and Bro. Eli Soriano is an instrument to share it with those who wish to know God.

It was through his Bible Expositions on TV [that I got to listen], since last year only, about July. Since I was a freelancer, I also listened to other religions, but didn’t get baptized. I just listened to them, to their teachings, and what they preach stroke me as something that digresses from the Bible.

On Being Baptized

Of course, I feel great joy not only in my heart but in my whole being. This, after all, is the doctrine of Christ that one should get baptized. And it happened to me, so thanks be to God that He willed for me to be baptized.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Eli, first of all, thanks be to God that He used you as an instrument in persevering for many to be saved. You have been a part of me, of my life.

~o~

Bro. Benjamin Martin Jr., 33, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

I joined because I was able to watch Bro. Eli on TV wherein I found the answer that I was looking for, and that we need the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s where I knew Christ.

I heard about Him in church, but you wouldn’t really know Him like that. When I heard Bro. Eli, that’s when I knew that God is the Savior of our lives.

On Being Baptized

I’m so happy. In my heart is a treasure unlike any other here on earth. It’s like this: When you gamble, you’re happy. But here, it’s unparalleled.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m thankful that he was an instrument in my life for me to receive the true religion that I can share to my family and relatives.

~o~

Sis. Vivian Wico, 48, Former Born Again, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

It’s here that I saw the group that believes in God.

Honestly, my husband and I have been listening since 2001. But for some reason, we didn’t… perhaps, because we were devoted to being Born Again members. I was enticed to being a Born Again even before we got married.

But then, when we got to listen, we gradually discontinued worshipping there. We continued listening and watching [Bro. Eli], and perhaps the calling of the Lord had arrived, but my husband got baptized first.

Last year, I got operated in the ovary. So, the Lord gave me a new life. I promised to Him that I will dedicate my life, my second life to Him. That’s why I am here now.

On Being Baptized

Well, relieved  relieved of everything, of the worries, of the emotional cargo. I felt cleansed.

I feel much comfortable now in doing things, unlike before when I always felt fear. Ever since I got operated, I always felt fear in doing things; I felt stressed. But now, I feel relieved in that whatever I will do in the future, I know God is there.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m very thankful. I’m always thankful that they are there to guide people like us who have lost our ways and are now returning unto God with their help.

I should say, [the preaching] is really truthful. It’s really based on the Bible. I didn’t see anything that was invented. I didn’t hear anything that seemed to be only their opinion as preachers.

I saw that it was true. Since I believe in the Bible, so of course I will believe what they say. But perhaps if it were only based on their opinion, I wouldn’t be here.

~o~

Sis. Gianne Ericka Espino, 20, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel’s teachings are good. I was able to listen to them for about four months until I decided to become a member here, because I believe that the doctrines are true. It was my first time to [hear Bro. Eli] then. But in those four months, I attended without fail; I had no absent.

November 17 marked my friend’s spiritual birthday and he invited me to the Church. That’s when it started, until I liked attending. He works in Manila. But even if he wasn’t around, I would attend by myself. I didn’t even know Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path] before.

On Being Baptized

I feel so elated inside. It’s like, “Wow!” I’ve been cleansed, my heart has been cleansed. I’m really very happy.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m overly thankful for the teachings that they teach us. May they always be guided by God.

~o~

Bro. Solomon Burgess PhD, 63, Former Baptist, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

The reason I joined the Church of God is because of its message, and what it stands for, its principles. That’s why I joined the Church of God.

I grew up in the [Baptist] church. I taught Sunday school in the church. So being here, its teaching coincides with what I learned in my childhood, what I was teaching. So the message coming from Bro. Eli is what I learned and what I was teaching. So that was one of the main reasons why I joined. When I heard the message, the message was the same.

I saw him a few times on TV, and then one of the members of the Church who invited me by the name of Bro. Felilx spoke to me about watching about this particular program on TV.

So I tuned into this channel; I think it was in ’93. And I said, “Oh, wow! I’ve seen him before.” And so I watched it. The teaching, the scriptures, and the interpretation are coming from the Bible, not man’s interpretation.

Some time lapsed, he mentioned it to me again so I started to follow it, and now I’m tuning into it. So I decided, “Oh, okay.” I think this one is probably, well not probably, the correct teachings that I have been exposed to since childhood.

On Being Baptized

Oh, it was something special; it was different. I was baptized three times before. This one is really different.

I heard that majority of the people who have been baptized, their feet remain at the bottom of the pool. And likewise, my feet remained at the bottom of the people; [they] were dipped in the water.

So, when [I was] told to put my hands over my nose [and got immersed], I went back and just levelled horizontally in the water. According to [the brother], that was never done before.

But the significance of that [for me] was, while in the water… Of course, I was looking upward, vertically. Sometimes when you close your eyes you see darkness, [but] when I closed my eyes and I was looking up through the water, I could see these bright colors: Light pink, light red, but it was pinkish. It was like a rainbow, but all of them together.

Then, just before I have been brought up, everything was clear; it was white. So I said, “Okay, this is different.” This was really different. But [even when] I was just walking to get out of the pool, it was like I was walking on air. “Wow! What’s happening?”

And until now, I’m having that feeling; it’s just like I’m floating [laughs]. So that was the feeling of that.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Keep doing what they are doing. Keep feeding the people the bread of the Scriptures, and hopefully… They’re already making a big difference. Just continue to do what they’re doing, continue to bring the people from the worldly world into the world of salvation.

That’s about it. That’s the reason why I’m here in the first place. So he’s making a difference. Just keep on going; just keep on driving. So hopefully, maybe I can join him, because part of my mission was helping people in the first place since I’ve been here in 1992.

But even before 1992 I have been helping people. We had a bread line where people who didn’t have food to eat [could go to]. So when I got here that was what I was doing [for] those who hadn’t had food to eat; those who couldn’t even buy dextrose at the government hospital, we provide medicine.

I am delighted to be part of this organization, of this mission, this ministry. Hopefully, I can also be part of that team that’s making a difference.

Keep it up. We just have to keep going. The more souls, the more people we can bring into the Church, the better this world will be.

Newly Baptized Testimonials: January 16, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on January 16, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Alain Algallar, 38, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I heard the true teachings of God. I learned the word of God through Bro. Eli, and by always listening to [Ang Dating Daan or The Old Path] on UNTV, on the Internet. That’s where I got persuaded [to join].

Actually, it was just an accident. In about 2003, I just happened to switch the channel there, and I got to listen. I doubted at first because I didn’t understand it. But as I continued listening to Bro. Eli, that’s when I saw the light, the real word of God.

Nobody invited me. I just went to the Locale of Dolores. I asked this from God. I wasn’t satisfied with my former religion; it’s like, I was confused, like there was something missing.

I prayed and I just found myself suddenly thinking about what it was like listening to Bro. Eli. Because of Bro. Eli, I heard the true word of God. Then, it’s as if my two feet just carried me to Dolores.

It’s funny because I didn’t have any background about The Old Path [the Church of God International]. I just went there and said that I would join. It was a Worship Service then on a Sunday. That’s why when they were asking me if someone had invited me, I told them “No one. It’s my own decision.”

On Being Baptized

It’s as if I didn’t feel any pain. During the indoctrination sessions, I went through a heavy trial. Actually, I felt as if I wouldn’t be able to go through with the baptism. But with God’s mercy, I was able to finish it.

The emptiness I felt is gone. Though the trial I faced was painful, I felt that all of [the pain] has gone away. I don’t feel it anymore. It’s like you’re at peace already.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that someday I will get to know them, see them. I pray to God that He may guide me that I may last here. As Bro. Eli said, there are many trials, many things that I will go through as I walk here.

Bro. Jessielito Santiago, 40, Former Catholic, Nueva Ecija Province

On Joining the Church of God

The reason is deep. When I went to Saudi, it’s Bro. Eli’s words on television – that I got to hear only twice – got imprinted in me.

I attended Born Again, Jehovah’s Witnesses gatherings there, but I could never forget the words he said that have entered [my heart]. It was in 2007 when I was in Saudi. There were many religions that invited me. I would go with them, but I never got baptized.

On Being Baptized

It felt so light, even lighter.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope they may continue. May they be far from perils and from evil things that they may continue helping us in our faith in the Lord for us to be able to continue until the end, until our salvation.

~o~

Sis. Coleen Ronquillo, 17, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized

Since I was a child, my mother would always have a radio by her side whenever she took care of me, and she would listen to Bro. Eli.

As time went by, my two older brothers became members as well, except for me as I had a hard time then accepting the doctrine on modest apparel.

Time came however that my two big brothers invited me [to attend Church gatherings].  I didn’t let go of the opportunity of God calling me. I didn’t want to miss that, so I joined as well.

On Being Baptized

It feels good inside. The burdens that I felt before, I really feel have been all washed away. I also had palpitations before baptism, but afterwards I felt relieved. I also repented of my sins.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

May they continue with their preaching works, and may they be able to encourage many more unto this religion, because I know that this is the right one.

~o~

Bro. Kimcasey Morabe, 27, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

I felt that the Lord was calling me, because I felt that I had so many sins.

My sickness became a way for me to be closer to Him, so I pursued [becoming a member].

It was on television that I saw it [Ang Dating Daan or The Old Path]. Sometimes my tuning in would go on for a while. I felt that He was calling me.

It has been on for a long time: Ask Bro. Soriano. I have heard about it and would sometimes view it briefly. One time, I saw that the topic was good and felt that there was a good message in it. I felt peace.

On Being Baptized

In my heart, it’s like I felt so much anger. But after they immersed me, I suddenly felt unburdened. Then the hurt I felt in my body was relieved.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

May you continue with your good works towards our fellowmen and in preaching. Many, many thanks.

Newly Baptized Testimonials: January 9, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on January 9, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Rogelio Pablo Jr., 44, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

The reason why I joined the Members Church of God is because I felt in my heart that this is the true Church written in Bible.

Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel are really incomparable; their teachings are no doubt from God.

I do the laundry at night and I got to listen to [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] on the transistor radio by accident. Then I felt as if something was moving me to seek more [about God].

I followed him from his radio to his television show on SBN, then on UNTV. When I had Internet connection installed, I watched on [UNTVWeb.com], on their websites. I watched his debates on Youtube, and I got the more convinced that there is no one that can gainsay Bro. Eli when it comes to [the Bible], because the truth is in him.

It has been since a long time ago as I delayed and delayed [becoming a member]. Perhaps the Lord willed to test me, as I am a teacher by profession; I mold children.

The hardest part was when I had a marital problem… That’s when I had more opportunities to do some soul-searching, and I got to listen the more to Bro. Eli.

On Being Baptized

I felt like a balloon freed from a sea of wind, like I was flying; I can’t explain it. I feel it until now. Thanks be to God.

My message to them [our fellowmen], what Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel said is right: That we should not delay [our joining] because it’s hard if we reach the dawn of our lives and we haven’t yet accepted the right thing that we should do.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

For Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, you’re always in our prayers. May you have longer lives that many more people will be saved.

~o~

Bro. Emmanuel San Pedro, 35, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I have been listening to Bro. Eli’s program for over a year now. I tried to attend an indoctrination session before, but perhaps God didn’t will for me to be able to go on with it due also to my work schedule. That happened abroad.

When I returned here in the Philippines… this is the opportunity… I must continue listening. So I completed the indoctrination, and now I am baptized. Thanks be to God.

My father was a member and I got to know the Church through him. He died a few days after getting baptized; that was in 2009. I thought about him and got interested in listening to Bro. Eli.

When UNTV launched its [radio] website, I clicked the radio option and watched through livestreaming while abroad. That’s when I got to listen to [The Old Path].

On Being Baptized

I was enlightened. The feeling felt so great; I can’t explain it. When I got out of the water wfter being immersed, it was just inexplicable. I felt so much joy.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I pray that they will be given longer lives that they may be able to continue serving the Lord and in spreading God’s words to people. May they be able to go on until many more people become members of the Church of God.

~o~

Sis. Magdalena Bognadon, 45, Former Assemblies of God Member, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

My husband joined MCGI in 2004. We were in Baguio and he was working in Manila. I have been listening to Bro. Eli’s program for quite a long time now, and I was already attending a few of the Church services with my husband. He was the one who invited me to listen to the indoctrination.

I attended the sessions before but I wasn’t able to continue and back then I didn’t understand a few things. On my second attempt, which I resolved to complete, everything started to fall in to place and I understood all that I listened to.

The teaching here is something you can apply to your self. What you learn is something that you can do for your well-being.

On Being Baptized

I felt light of course. It feels different when you get baptized; it’s like you were unburdened. I was in tears.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m thankful that I too became a member here.

~o~

Sis. Arlene Parungao, 44, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I was able to listen to the doctrines during the three-day Thanksgiving as I was invited by my son Paul Darwin. I felt that I was being called by God.

I was happy when they became members when they were still teenagers. They are brothers; his brother is Patrick Ian. They became good children. Sister [Magdalena] is a witness as she is our neighbor.

On our street, the youths would fight each other when they’re drinking liquor, but they didn’t drink. They had no vices; they just studied and went here. I was happy.

Then they invited me, and I felt that I was being called by God. I have already been invited before, but I was waiting for my husband. With the Lord’s mercy, he will become a member too.

On Being Baptized

Actually, I decided not to get baptized today as my husband and I talked with each other and he told me that he will move out of the house [if I get baptized].

I was going to school earlier but I felt really heavy; I was just crying. I was trying not to as I felt embarassed, but my tears just fell from my eyes. I was going to school then on a tricycle, but my heart was really leaning towards going here. So I texted my son, I said “Kuya (big brother), has it started? Can I still come?” He then went to our school and brought me here.

It felt so good. I just let go of the things that held me back. I’m going to follow God now. I also thought that life is [fragile]; you might die tomorrow.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Thanks be to God for Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel because God sent them to save lost souls.
