Newly Baptized Testimonials: May 2, 2014

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on May 2, 2014 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga, Philippines.

Bro. RJ Padayhag, 23, Former Born Again, Cavite

On Being Baptized
I feel like at ease, and that my sins were cleansed. I am happy because I am now a member of the Church.

Actually I’ve been listening to Bro. Eli for two years but it wasn’t continuous; it was only now that I had the chance to be baptized.

On MCGI Leaders
I hope they continue spreading the Word of God. It was a big help especially on my part. Before, I usually did bad things. but because of them I realized what I should be doing, what is right.

Bro. Joel Mina, 36, Former Born Again, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
A lot has changed in me, even when I was still just a listener to Bro. Eli. It was more than a year of continual listening; though there were a lot of hindrances.

But I made my observations, and when the chance came for me to be indoctrinated I went to the coordinating center of The Old Path [the Church of God International], and proceeded with my indoctrination. It was a daily session, every morning [as] I’m on night duty.

I was still a member of Born Again then, and I had nothing else to do during my duty hours. That was the time I watched [The Old Path] on my cellular phone.

It was the only show I could find on air so I watched it. Then it became a habit. I realized this is what I’ve been looking for, that I’ve been searching for a long time now.

I’ve seen that what he’s saying is the truth. I said to myself, “ I will go there because that is the true religion.”

On MCGI Leaders
All I can say to Bro. Eli is, I hope that he will have a longer life and that he may convince more people who are still outside the Church, so they can also be members and know the true teachings of God.

Bro. Nichole Nastor, 21, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
I feel light. I’ve repented for all the sins I’ve committed.

When I first listened to Bro. Eli [in 2010], he was always pointing out all the wrong things about other religions. I was mad at him at first, then I decided to do my research; I read the Bible.

At that moment, I realized that he was right; it’s written in the Bible. My anger faded away. That was when I continued listening and now I got baptized.

On MCGI Leaders
I hope that they continue preaching to different countries, and may God give them longer lives.

Sis. Emma Bonto, 49, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
It was an entirely different feeling being baptized; more so, because I’ve decided it on my own.

I guess I can say that this may be the best thing I ever did in my life. I thank God first of all because he bestowed upon me the chance to listen and learn through Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

All I can say is that I did not find this in other religions. I was deeply moved by all that he [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] is saying, and besides that, I learned a lot of teachings [that I didn’t learn] compared to others.

I was already a listener even before; it was on the radio. It was like a pre-sleeping habit.
Then I got curious. There was this time that I didn’t fully understand why there were times he gets mad. But slowly I learned more; it got me more interested.

There came a time that I started comparing everything he was teaching first with myself and then with other religions.

My mother is an INC member; my brother is Born Again. Then, I was Catholic back then. My relatives were also in different religions so I tried visiting each.

I was also frequently invited. But I wasn’t touched; I didn’t feel anything. I wanted something where I could have that feeling you can’t explain, and not just because you had to come with them because they’re family or friends. I wanted it to come from within me: That word, “Change.”

On MCGI Leaders
I am thanking them with all my heart for what they are doing and their perseverance to help us, most especially for the benefit of our souls.

Thanks be to God because I learned so much about the Gospel. I wish that they’ll have more blessings, more years, and that they can serve more people in this world not just in the Philippines. More power and God Bless!

Bro. Fernando and Sis. Henilla Ydeo, 69 and 63, Former Catholic and INC member, Pangasinan Province

Bro. Fernando: It was a big change. First of all I am thankful, I am happy for the beautiful explanations, especially in our indoctrination and that this day of baptism has come.

I am very happy because all my sins were cleansed. It’s hard to promise, since we are all humans who aren’t perfect. There are times that I might still sin, but I will try hard to avoid all the sins I’ve done.

Sis. Henilla: Praise the Lord. Yes, I am very happy. This is what I was waiting for, my much awaited baptism, my birthday. I am truly happy to accept the Lord, the Father.

I was an INC member before. I always asked myself; I always prayed, and told myself that there is still a chance — and I have hope — that he will guide me to the true religion that will save me.
I wasn’t expecting it but when I clicked on the TV [and listened to Bro. Eliseo Soriano], it was like something was lifted off from me. It felt so light; I even jumped with joy. I truly felt the presence of the Lord within me; I was even having goosebumps.

Thank God for hearing my prayer. Since then, I followed Bro. Eli from 5 o’clock to 6 in the morning. It was an hour everyday, but on the third day of watching I’ve made a decision to visit the coordinating center.

I went to Dagupan and looked for the coordinating center, and that’s when I met Sis. Nora, one of the workers there. I told her that I wanted to attend the indoctrination sessions, my husband and I.

I asked if it could be done at our house, and my request was granted. Praise God that we’ve finished [the sessions] and we are now here as members.

Bro. Fernando: It was during the Holy Week [of the Catholics].

Sis. Henilla: He was Catholic before and I was an INC. I think he only attended the INC indoctrination 3 times; he wasn’t able to finish because he had work. But I have been an INC member a long time ago.

I have my own Bible and I saw a lot of contradictions. Inside the Church, they [the ministers] were the only ones who held the Bible. During indoctrination they were the only ones to read it too.

I had a lot of basis; I was also from Jehovah’s Witnesses, Born Again, 7th Day Adventist, Baptist and other congregations. I have my own Bible and I understood.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Fernando: I’m so happy I’ve found the right way.

Sis. Henilla: Praise Lord! I am truly proud that I’ve found him. I really want to meet him, shake his hands and embrace him; that’s what I’m praying for.

Bro. Fernando: I hope I will see him soon.
