Newly Baptized Testimonials: February 21, 2014

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on February 21, 2014 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

1. Bro. Renz Abaca, 23, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
It’s a different feeling; it feels light at the same time. Actually, it’s inexplicable. You can’t explain the feeling. It’s light, as if you’re suddenly free.

There were many means through which I heard [Bro. Eliseo Soriano], like on the radio in my car. Then, my uncle is also a member of the Church of God. I saw the debates of [Bro. Eli] on television and on the Internet as well.

On MCGI Leaders
Firstly to Bro. Eli, despite many who persecute you, you were able to expand the thinking of the people who listen to you.

They get to think, “Is what I’m doing right? Can the religion I joined save me?”

Of course, like me who is still young, as Bro. Eli said, it’s better to serve God while you are still young.

At the same time to Bro. Daniel, may he have more power on his [public services].

Then God willing, may they both be able to continue in their preaching about the Bible. The more [members], the merrier.

2. Bro. Larry Frias, 34, Former Catholic, Laguna Province

On Being Baptized
I feel so happy, so light, and as if all my problems are gone.

My cousin and my uncle are already members of The Old Path [the Church of God International] I also got to watch on television.

I was from a Catholic school and they would ask me about my studies, especially about theology. Then, they would tell me about falsities in our teachings.

I would debate with them about it. But when they were the ones explaining, I said, “They seem to have a point.” But I still wasn’t satisfied as they were the ones who were only saying it.

One time, I was watching television; I was surfing the channels, looking for something good to watch. Then, I landed on Bro. Eli Soriano’s channel.

I said, “This is where my cousin is a member of.” As I listened, I was being amazed, because it was like everything he was saying is right in the Bible. All he says is really based in the Bible.

I then compared what was taught us in school to that of Bro. Eli, and I realized, [there’s] a great difference.

On MCGI Leaders
Bro. Eli, Bro. Daniel, many, many thanks for preaching the Gospel of Christ, of God.

If it weren’t for you as workers who preach the truth about the Gospel, I would never have known the truth in the Bible.

I read the Bible, but I don’t understand it much. If it weren’t for you, Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, I would really not have known the truth in the Bible.

3. Bro. Noel Villadelgado, 48, Former Catholic, Laguna Province

On Being Baptized
I got more amazed of the love of God for us. So I’m overly grateful that I was born again today in the spirit. And I do not regret that I accepted God once again. My former god was a different god.

On MCGI Leaders
Actually, I heard The Old Path through radio only. I’m thankful that God gave instruments [like] Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

4. Bro. Joevic and Sis. Mary Grace Lariba, 27 and 28, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized

Bro. Joevic: I feel light. I feel relieved of the burden I feel inside.

Sis. Mary Grace: I feel light, and happy.

Bro. Joevic: I got to listen on radio since about six months ago. It was on Radyo La Verdad. I was driving, as my occupation is a driver.

I am fond of dramas, and when I found La Verdad radio, I stayed there. [It was on] Dear Kuya that I discovered this. So I had no hesitations.

I said to my wife, let’s listen. Let’s try to listen to the doctrines of Bro. Eli. Since Bro. Eli told of the Mass Indoctrination, I invited my wife.

Sis. Mary Grace: My husband invited me to listen. Then, I proved that Bro. Eli’s [preaching] is true. What he says is true in the Bible.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Joevic: I hope that they’ll have longer lives; spread the good, the many good news about the Bible.

Sis. Mary Grace: I hope they continue to preach the Word of God in the whole world, that they may teach all men, those who aren’t are brethren yet. May he [Bro. Eli] be given a longer life by the Lord.

5. Bro. Corleto Mejia, 24, Former Catholic, Pangasinan Province

On Being Baptized
I didn’t expect that this would be the way for me to know the truth. Before my life was worthless. Now, I understood what [life] means.

It’s just sad because I have many friends, loved ones, and I’m the only one … I pray that the Lord guide us for us to be instruments to lead others.

I watched on television, until it became a late-night habit. Then I learned that there was a The Old Path locale near us.

On MCGI Leaders
I hope that their preaching will last, their lives be longer that they will be able to lead many more souls. May the Lord bless them.

6. Sis. Johanha Pascual, 18, Former Born Again, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
It feels light. I really feel that the heavy things I felt before, the sins I made, have all been lifted from me. It feels good.

Someone invited us here. He was already a member then. He was watching then, and we [my family and I] were able to listen.

We were really touched, and we knew that it really is true. We also realized how wrong the teachings of our former religion were.

We attended Church gatherings and the teachings are so good. We learned something. Everything is written in the Bible, unlike in others where they just tell stories or divert the topic.

On MCGI Leaders
May they continue serving God. We are glad that God used you as instruments to preach the Word.

May you continue preaching the words of God that you may be able to lead many more souls and bring them to our Father in heaven.

7. Sis. Flora Bautista, 69, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
I’m happy because the Lord touched [my heart] to become a member here. Many thanks to God.

I felt light, like all the problems I bore have been lifted from me with His help. So really many thanks unto the Lord.

On MCGI Leaders
Bro. Eli, if it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have known the truth. All I can say is that I’m so very happy, that I don’t know what to say. Thanks be to God.

8. Sis. Alicia Diones, 59, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
Before I was immersed, I was shaking and I felt bad. But afterwards I felt relieved. I felt light.

My son-in-law was still a bachelor then when I asked him one time, “Where are you going?” He replied, “To Bro. Eli.” He said, “Mother, just listen.”

That time, I didn’t’ pay attention to him, until he got married already, until his sibling got baptized as well. I said, “Just let it be, and I will follow.”

Then one of my siblings became a member, and now I’m a sister too.

On MCGI Leaders
I’m thankful because of the righteousness [I understood] from Bro. Eli.

9. Bro. Felix Cabrillas, 63, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
I’m happy; I’m glad. It’s like I felt relieved, like my problems went away. This is my first time to be baptized.

I listen to Bro. Eli on radio, on television every night for almost two years now.

On MCGI Leaders
Bro. Eli is really good. I admire him. So I don’t mind being up late at night because what he says are truly from the Bible.

I’ve also proven that he’s a very good person, because he cannot do such, if he were [otherwise].

It’s almost he knows all that needs to be read. Actually, I don’t know how to search books like that. I’m old, but I admit I don’t know how to search for such verses in the Bible.

I feel light and pleasant. The heavy things I felt before were gone after I was [immersed].
