Newly Baptized Testimonials: April 25, 2014

Read short testimonials of some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on April 25, 2014 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Percival Salvador, 17, Former KNC, Bataan Province

On Being Baptized
I feel light. It’s like my view of life has changed. I’m really happy that my sins are gone. The things I did before, I will not do them anymore.

Many thanks to my parents for guiding me. I’m lucky that they are in The Old Path [The Church of God] and that they brought me here.

On MCGI Leaders
Bro. Eli, Bro. Daniel, many thanks for preaching. You are role models, and I love you very much.

Bro. Ismaelito Rama, 46, Former Born Again, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
I feel happy, light, and clean.

I’ve been listening to [The Old Path] since it was on SBN 21, but then it didn’t air anymore on SBN. We didn’t have cable; we didn’t have UNTV.

Then, when I had a stroke, I was able to watch again Bro. Eli. We just chanced upon UNTV.

On MCGI Leaders
May the charity work be blessed, as well as the [spead] of the teachings that our leaders teach us, especially Bro. Eli.

Bro. Emerson Mendoza, 34, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
I feel good inside. But before I say what I feel, I’ve been listening to Bro. Eli since 1994. Now I’m 34, and it’s only now that I’ve been baptized.

But perhaps, God has a [reason] for letting me become a member, for calling me, because He’s called me many times before, I just didn’t respond. Still, I am thankful that He called me, despite 20 years of not heeding to His call.

In the 13 years of my life, I did nothing but to drink, gamble; sometimes, I even quarrel with my wife.

I’m thankful that He didn’t give me sickness because when I drank I really drank to the limits.

I do not say this to brag; but I want to pierce the hearts of other people because our life is only short. Before, when I was admitted in a hotel, my livelihood was great, and I would have four or five women. That is, apart from gambling in the morning and drinking at night, and more gambling too.

Actually, my friend here (points to fellow newly baptized, Bro. Edgar Villablanca), we used to race. We were surprised to see each other today.

All I can say is that God is truly good, because somehow, He has been calling me for a long time, and I didn’t heed it. So now I heeded His call.

I remember when I was in college, in high school even, our professor and I would argue because I was in Catholic school. I graduated from Saint Anthony and Perpetual College. I would really [insist] the word of God. Only, I forgot.

On MCGI Leaders
I thank, firstly, the Lord God, our Father, His Son, and the preachers who lead us: Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel. I will bring here my children. I will raise them properly, so that they won’t be like me.

Bro. Edgar Villablanca, 43, Former Jesus Is Lord Member, Manila

On Being Baptized
I can say that what happened to me today is really good, because I feel light. A thorn has been removed from my heart, and the Lord has forgiven the sins I have done as I was in vices before.

Now here I am. I heeded the Lord’s call that’s why I got baptized. So it’s really pleasant, and joyful. I can’t explain it. After being immersed in water, I felt light inside; the burden is gone. So I’m happy now.

I heard Bro. Eli on TV and that’s when I got interested. By accident, I saw him on UNTV on television. I’ve been listening to him since 2011.

Before, I attended the indoctrination already, but I wasn’t able to finish it. I was able to attend only three or four sessions. But now, I finished it already. And here I am. This is it. I’m here now.

My friend and I saw each other. He was my companion before in our horse-racing vice. So it’s amazing that we saw each other on this day of baptism.

On MCGI Leaders
Bro. Eli is anointed; he’s really a good preacher. The teachings he says are really one-of-a-kind. He explains the truths that are in accordance to the Bible. That’s where he really drew me.

The teachings he gives to people are different. He’s really a good preacher in this dispensation. He’s really the one that the Lord uses for people to learn the truth in accordance to the Bible, and he proves this in the Bible.

Bro. Rody Gonzales, 63, Former Baptist Pastor, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
I’ve been relieved of the burdens I carried, the heaviness. I’m happy. Really. Deep inside my heart, I’m really happy.

When I was in Makati in 2012, my general foreman was a member in the Locale of N. Domingo in San Juan [in National Capital Region]. His older brother was our contractor. He had a duty in the Church.

Every end of the month, our contractor would bring us workers to Bible Expositions. That was for about a number of times.

It was good. The teachings are purely biblical: Nothing lacking, nothing added. What’s really in the Bible, I’ve proven [to be taught].

Also, what others say that there are many prohibitions, it’s only right. The laxness in people’s lives is not right. In others, everything is allowed.

On MCGI Leaders
Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, may you continue in your work, in the ministry. Many are praying for you, that you may continue to spread the work, and that you may be able to do much more work.

May the Lord will to give you longer lives because you are needed by the Church, especially in preaching the word of God to many. You still have many things to attend to; the Church needs you.

Regards to your family, and may God continue to give you strength, and take care of you.

Bro. Jhorem Loenen, 25, Former Iglesia Ni Cristo, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
All I can say is that I’m happy. I don’t know if a spirit descended upon me because I’m overwhelmed with joy.

Because of the Church of God, perhaps all my sins have been forgiven when I was immersed. I really can’t explain my overwhelming joy.

At first, I was just invited to a prayer meeting in Trece Martires, Cavite. Whenever they gathered for prayer meetings and worship services, I joined them.

Then, when my older sister told me that indoctrination sessions were opening, I asked her, “Ate, can you accompany me to be indoctrinated?” She replied, “Yes, we’ll go with you.”

So that’s when it all started. Until it finished, I continued with it. I just knew right from the start of my listening to Bro. Eli that what he teaches is truly the word of God, and does not come from himself but from the Bible.

It’s as if something urged me to join the Church of God. I can’t explain it, because it was unexpected. I just became active in listening right from the start.

On MCGI Leaders
Bro. Eli, thanks for encouraging us. May you continue to invite people from the world [unto the Church of God]. I hope that we’ll be able to help you in [spreading] the teachings and word of the Lord God.

Sis. Janet Sison, 34, Former Born Again, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
I’m really very happy and relieved because I really wanted to be a member of the true Church of God. And it came true.
I’ve been listening [to Bro. Eli Soriano] since 2001 through my brother who is already a member. But I didn’t believe then. But as time passed by, it’s like I realized that Bro. Eli is right with the doctrines.

Then, when my brother and I got separated due to his work, I got to watch on television, through UNTV.

On MCGI Leaders
May they continue in the work of the Lord. Because as they always say, “No good deed will yield evil.” That’s all.

Sis. Edith Resuleo, 50, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
I feel light. Before I was immersed in the water, I felt so heavy, burdened with many problems. But now with God’s mercy, I am crying for joy. Thanks be to God.

I got to listen to [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] on television. I jot down every verse from the Bible, as when I was a Catholic, and a member of the El Shaddai group, there were also Bible Studies.

Then when he [Bro. Eli] speaks, it’s like I’m focused on what he’s saying. His voice and speech are nice. It was about two years ago since I first listened to him. I thought I was going to be just a listener as I was busy with the El Shaddai.

Then, my wife and I had a problem. And it seemed like we lost God. I’ve been listening to the [indoctrination sessions] for two weeks, with the one who brought me here. And now I’m here in Apalit. Thanks be to God. It’s like a miracle.

On MCGI Leaders
I’m very thankful because I thought I would just be a listener. But thanks be to God that I’m here now in Apalit. Thanks Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

Bro. Franco Jacob, 36, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
I’m happy because I got to be in the true religion. I feel light, just light. It feels good inside. If only I could do it one more time [laughs].
I’ve been listening to [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] since I was young, about 19. Now I’m 35. The only reason why I didn’t join before was because of liquor. But I didn’t smoke, just liquor.

I didn’t want to fool myself then. Perhaps, if I joined and I would just drink, I would just be folling myself. I had only liquor problem, and no other vices.

I listened to Bro. Eli through television and radio. He was still on Channel 13 then. He was still very young.

On MCGI Leaders
I hope they’ll always take care. Also, may their lives be longer that they may lead many more souls.

Bro. Ruth Jacob, 30, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
I’m happy. It feels light inside.

I feel light, and my heart is thankful that I knew the true God. It’s unlike the God of the Catholics that are idols, but the living God.

I attended Bible Expos before, and also through Bro. Roger Necessito. He followed up on us, so we were able to attend the indoctrination.

I felt relief in my heart [upon listening to the indoctrination], because of the much grace and salvation towards me. When I didn’t know Him yet, I felt I was such an evil being. So I really remembered His kindness, and I’m really thankful and sorry of my sins.

On MCGI Leaders
May they be given more strength by the Lord God that they may continue spreading the words of God to people, that many more souls will be saved.

Sis. Lilia Verey, 57, Former Iglesia ni Cristo, Bulacan Province

On Being Baptized
It feels good. It’s so relieving. It’s peaceful, and my mind is calm. Despite having many problems before, it’s like they’re all gone.

I just watched Bro. Eli on TV. Sometimes while I cook, I would listen to him till the morning.
I’ve been listening for a long time, since six months ago.

On MCGI Leaders
I’m happy that I found them, that I found the truth as I was a former Iglesia ni Cristo member.

The teachings are very different from the Iglesia before. That’s why back then, I gradually didn’t worship anymore in their chapel in the Church.

I watched on television, and I didn’t worship anymore. There were many deacons who visited me, and they saw me watching Bro. Eli.

They said that Bro. Soriano was crazy, but I said, “No, what he explains is just right.” Then, my neighbors who were INC members ignored me already.

It’s a pity that my father and mother were not able to become members. They died as Iglesia ni Cristo members. I was an offering [“handog”] there.

I’ve long been a member of the Iglesia, but the teachigns of Bro. Eli are really different.
