MCGI and UNTV’s Joint Medical-Dental Mission Serve Over 500 in Pagbilao, Quezon

Members Church of God International (MCGI) once again partnered with UNTV News and Rescue to organize and facilitate a Medical-Dental Mission, serving over 500 people in Quezon province on February 2, 2018.

Held at Barangay Talipan, Pagbilao, the charitable event served indigents from the town and nearby barangays there.

“Para sa akin, napakalaking tulong para sa kagaya kong mahirap din lang, [na] hindi makabili minsan ng gamot, hindi makapagpa-check-up,” said Maria Perla while holding her baby, adding, “Nahihirapan ako dahil sa kakulangan sa amin sa financial, malaking tulong sa akin [ito].”

Felipe Zoleta of the Talipapa Justice, meanwhile, said “Malaki ang naitulong sa akin at sa aking anak dahil [dito]… tulad ng sabi ko nga napakamahal kung sa dentista ang pagpapabunot… at saka bukod pa roon, matapos bunutan [ay] may libreng gamot para sa [pagkapabunot] ng ngipin.”

The medical-dental outreach, made possible through the collaboration of Members Church of God International’s Kamanggagawa Foundation and UNTV Public Service Channel, also made available the following free services: adult and pediatric medical consultation, eye examination, and dental tooth extraction.

Medicine prescribed by the volunteer doctors were distributed free at the ‘Botika Ni Kuya,’ the pharmacy and free service conceptualized and initiated by Kuya Daniel Razon. This is the supplementary initiative next to ‘Clinic Ni Kuya,’ an established clinic that provides free medical health services.

Free legal consultation was also extended during this outreach with volunteer-lawyers from MCGI.

“Mayroon pa nga tayong legal [na serbisyo]. Ito po iyong talagang madalas na hinihingi ng mga constituent na lagi makapag-conduct tayo ng ‘free’ medical and dental mission. Maganda po yung serbisyo natin, lalo na [ng] ating mga doktor. Eh [kasi] kumpleto,” barangay chairman Catalino Glorioso told UNTV Correspondent Japhet Cablaida in an interview.

The Municipality of Pagbilao, despite being considered a first class municipality in the province of Quezon, still has some areas like Talipan where the livelihood is farming and poultry. Their meager income made them unable to cater to basic medical needs of their families or their own.

MCGI is a regular sponsor and partner of UNTV News and Rescue in delivering outreach programs in remote provinces and poorer communities in the National Capital Region.
