Manila, Philippines – The record-breaking feat of the Members Church of God International’s (MCGI) official choir group, the “Ang Dating Daan Chorale,” made it to local and international television, publications and web platforms.
The lively 15-minute medley song number composed of four of MCGI’s original praise songs was presented to the Guinness adjudicator Ms. Fortuna Burke Melhem and to the rest of the world.
Print and online publications from the Philippines such as Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star, and People’s Tonight, among others, featured the Ang Dating Daan Chorale’s latest accomplishment.
Meanwhile, international news sites also featured the musical achievement of MCGI.
Starring on the Guinness World Records’ own website was the Ang Dating Daan Chorale’s achievement, beautifully worded by the group’s staff writer.
“A breath-taking 8,688 singers – who travelled from various local churches as well as countries in the Americas and Africa – took their places in the Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines and totally shattered the previous record of 4,745 people that was achieved by by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Philippines) last year,” wrote Rachel Swatman.
In an article entitled “Singing their Way to a Record,” the Singapore’s Straits Times lauded the Philippines’ own Ang Dating Daan Chorale, making its mark in the Guinness World Records with songs of praises.
“Making sure that God could hear the voice of man was the Church of God International choir in the Philippines, whose 8,688 members lifted their hearts, hands and voices in harmony on Monday night.”
China’s Yibada news site wrote about how the group made the Guinness World Records.
“The Ang Dating Daan Chorale sang a medley of gospel songs in unison, properly conducted under concert conditions, and met all the requirements listed on the Guinness World Records website to bag the Largest Gospel Choir Category,” wrote Yibada’s Karen de Guzman.
In addition to news articles and blogs about the event, awe-inspiring photos of chorale members lining the circumference of the Smart-Araneta Coliseum made rounds in international news sites, such as The Global Times, Yahoo News, the European Pressphoto Agency, and even The Wall Street Journal.
Newsbeat Social also shared the story on its official Facebook page, garnering more than 35k likes and more than 12k shares, stating how a “Philippine church reaches a new high note” with its Guinness achievement.
On Twitter, thousands of users greeting the program and its latest accomplishment managed to make two trending topics “Ang Dating Daan” and “Ang Dating Daan Chorale” on Philippines trends list.
Posts poured on social networking site Facebook, and debuted as the number 1 worldwide trend as “Ang Dating Daan: Religious Radio and TV Program Celebrates 35th Year of Broadcast on Oct. 12.”
The Ang Dating Daan Chorale became the Guinness World Record holder for the “Largest Gospel Choir” category, with 8,688 recorded participants on Oct. 12, 2015.
As of this posting, the video of the Ang Dating Daan Chorale’s official attempt performance has reached more than 177K views. The Old Path Youtube Channel posted the 16-minute video last October 17 this year.
