MCGI Year-End Thanksgiving Focuses on Ultimate Reason of Man’s Existence

The Members Church of God International (MCGI) celebrated its Fourth Quarter Special Thanksgiving of God’s People from December 25 to 27, capping off another fruitful year of wisdom and love in the midst of an ongoing pandemic.

For the brethren in MCGI, the Thanksgiving celebration serves as a time to reflect and be grateful for all the blessings and opportunities to do good deeds. Though the celebration was still held online, brethren all over the world offered the sacrifice of thanksgiving in their respective homes and learned biblical wisdom and insights that were revealed for the first time.

Man: God’s Towering Masterpiece

Man as the towering piece of God’s and the ultimate reason for everything that God made summed up the topic that answered the age-old question about the purpose of man’s existence. As Bro. Eli Soriano explained, man was created for the Lord Jesus Christ. “We were created for His joy,” he said, so it is important that man follows the words and teachings of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

In this topic, Bro. Eli also emphasized the characteristics that God’s servants should have similar to those heroes of faith whose hearts were set towards Paradise. “Our lives here on Earth is something like an apprenticeship. We are practicing how to live in paradise,” he added.

Growing in Faith

Attending virtual Church gatherings have become essential for families in MCGI. With the help of technology, members are able to participate in all assemblies.

For this quarter’s special online convention, Bro. Eli stressed the importance of having biblical knowledge, and mentioned that a “time will come when the will of God shall rule the earth.”

As biblical topics delved deeper, misconceptions have been cleared, and the congregation have gained a better understanding of some Bible verses long misinterpreted by many people. The lessons also served as a reminder for the brethren to continuously attend gatherings and focus on listening to God’s words, because as Bro. Eli often says, “A lifetime is not enough to understand the entirety of the wisdom of God.”
