Ang Dating Daan’s 34th Anniversary: A Global Celebration of Good Works

The Members Church of God International’s (MCGI) will take part in celebrating its flagship radio-television broadcast Ang Dating Daan’s 34 years on the air. With the theme “Shaping A Nation Zealous of Good Works,”the Ang Dating Daan has lined up various public service activities not only in the Philippines but also abroad.

Bro. Eli, who is the Presiding Minister to MCGI, hosts the program which for years saw its massive impact extend from the Philippines to the South American nations. Originally in Tagalog, the show now caters to its Spanish and Portuguese-speaking constituents.

A Global Celebration

To commemorate the anniversary, Ang Dating Daan, also known as The Old Path, has lined up simultaneous acts of goodwill that is expected to draw participants in the Philippines, as well as MCGI brethren from different cities and countries.

MCGI in Liberia will offer free clinic services while MCGI Ghana concentrates its efforts in a charity home for African and Liberian refugees.

Blood drives are to be held consecutively in some select North and South America areas, such as Vancouver, Canada, as well as in Puerto Rico.

MCGI in New York, New Jersey and Maryland of North America will hold clean-up drives in major city areas as well as donate to food and clothes banks in their areas.

Meanwhile, MCGI brethren from the Philippines’ three major islands of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will participate in a wave of community-building efforts that include medical missions and clean-up drives.

Various town-wide clean-up drives are scheduled in Pangasinan, Laguna and Mindanao, to name a few.

Orphanage visits, baranggay beautifications and feeding programs will also be conducted in Sta. Maria, Laguna, Bulacan, General Santos City and Davao, respectively.

Blood drives were held consecutively in North America, namely Vancouver, Canada as well as in Puerto Rico, South America.

Worldwide Bible Exposition

Ang Dating Daan’s 34th anniversary celebration will culminate with a night of learning God’s wisdom as a special edition of Worldwide Bible Exposition will be held at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on October 30 this year.

MCGI’s Bible Exposition is a Bible symposium event where visitors on the venue could ask their questions of faith, including those attending through satellite and web conferencing from all over the world.

Regular Bible Expositions are held weekly for Spanish and Portuguese audiences, and monthly for Asian viewers.

The free-admission Worldwide BibleExposition event will start at 4 p.m. PHT.

Sis. Paraluman Marmaya, 71, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I believe that this is really the place that will bring me to God’s kingdom.

I accidentally saw the [The Old Path] Bible Exposition on television. I was switching channels, and then I saw someone asking Bro. Eli a question. I saw that the answer was from the Bible.

Another guest asked a question and I realized that it was the Bible that answers. I told myself, “This was what I have long been looking for. Praise God!”

I’ve been watching the program daily for almost two months, and I would even stay up late, until 2 am. I believe that Bro. Eli preaches the truth.

I asked my son to look for [a Coordinating Center of] Ang Dating Daan, which is the Church of God. [When we found one] I asked him to come with me. We attended the Mass Indoctrination for two weeks.

I was an immigration employee before I retired. I am disgruntled with the idol worship of the Catholics so I stopped attending mass. I was reading the Bible and when I watched the Bible Exposition, I was surprised! He answers through the Bible.

There were words that Bro. Eli used that I didn’t like when I first started watching. I was way younger that time. But then he explained that we are supposed to be straightforward, without inhibition when telling the truth. That’s when I started to appreciate the way he preached.

On Being Baptized

I had this lightness inside. I felt that I was very much blessed by God. “Finally, I’m here,” that was what I thought. Whatever happens, I’m ready, especially now that I’m old.

I have a lot of things to be grateful about. I used to only ask God to keep me safe and sound. I didn’t ask for wealth; I just wanted Him to take care of me. He made me strong up to this very moment, and I had never been sickly! I am above 70 years old. I sleep late just to be able to finish Bro. Eli’s TV program: This is all I have been looking for!

On MCGI Leaders

I want to see him in person, but he’s very far. Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, thanks be to God because you became instrumental for this change in my life. I believe that Bro. Eli is a vehicle for us to be intact once Jesus Christ comes. When Bro. Eli was crying during our prayer, I was also crying. He sacrificed a lot for people.

~o~

Bro. Mac Marmaya, 34, Bulacan, Former Born Again

On Joining the Church of God

I started watching Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path] in 1999, and felt like I grew in the Lord. I was looking for channels where I could listen to the words of God. All the stories Bro. Eli shared are true and the verses are all in the Bible.

I was a Born Again Christian, and used to be a member of the Jesus Christ the Savior and then Jesus Is Lord and Bread of Life groups. I moved from one organization to another. Until one day, my mom told me to come with her in Ang Dating Daan.

I was in high school then. I was hearing a lot of rumors about the Church but I really liked what I was watching on TV so I got interested. I told myself, “I’ll go so I will discover the truth about these rumors.”

When we attended the indoctrination, I realized the ill news weren’t true. People misinterpreted the doctrines. We finished the indoctrination, and decided to go to Apalit.

I have been a Christian for a very long time, and for once, I want to know what’s Bro. Eli’s basis of faith. I found that it was good. I saw that his basis is the Bible. We then decided to get baptized.

On Being Baptized

First of all, I’m so happy because I saw my mom getting baptized for the first time through water. By personal experience, I have also been baptized in water, before but I didn’t feel it because it was a swimming pool where the ambience felt like an excursion. Here in the Church, it felt sacred, solemn. That was the huge difference.

Being baptized felt so good. I was filled with the Holy Spirit when I was submerged under water. I was overcome by joy because my mom got closer to God. There was also that feeling where it seemed like the Holy Spirit said, “His mission was accomplished.”

I sought renewal and forgiveness for my sins. When I got into the water and finally got out, God’s presence was really there. I could feel it. If only I could stay in the water for a longer period of time to meditate, I would have done so, but there were still a lot of brethren in line waiting for their turn.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Eli, thanks be to God very much because God allowed me to be a member of the Members Church of God International: the true Christian Church.

I also want to thank God for Bro. Daniel. You both brought significant contributions to my awareness of God’s will. I will keep God’s doctrines in my heart wherever I go. Thanks be to God with all my heart.

~o~

Bro. Romnick Collera, 22, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

I recently watched the program on TV accidentally while switching channels and I heard the true teachings that were delivered incorrectly in the Catholic Church, especially about the idols. So I was convinced to listen here in the Church of God and I liked the way they taught people.

On Being Baptized

I felt light; I repented and turned away from my old ways.

On MCGI Leaders

I hope God in heaven will always guide them, and for the words of God to be propagated all over the world.

~o~

Bro. Jomel Capnao, 18 years old, Former Catholic

On Joining the Church of God

Bro. Dominick from Cavite told me to go to Ang Dating Daan [Church of God] because he believed I would like it.

He persuaded me to go several times, and I realized that the teachings have basis and are truthful. For example, the Catholic’s idol worship, [which] the Bible [prohibits].

I then made sure to attend the indoctrination consistently. The doctrines I heard discussed biblical truths.

On Being Baptized

I felt weightless, as if my sins disappeared.

On MCGI Leaders

Continue doing your best so that more souls will attend [gatherings] and become members of the Members Church of God International.

Sis. Isabel Tenoria, 78, Former Catholic, Bicol Province

On Joining the Church of God

I’ve been listening to Bro. Eli for a long time and I really liked the truths that I’ve been hearing from him. It’s what I’ve been looking for. I’ve always thought about the day when I could change from the ways of faith I was raised in.

My son Danilo was a member of the Church, and suggested that I listen to Bro. Eli. He has been a member for three years now, and as for me I’ve been listening for a year before I got indoctrinated.

When I was watching TV, I saw the invitation for the Mass Indoctrination, and that’s when I decided that it might be the opportunity for me. I needed to attend it, but the problem was my children wouldn’t allow me to go alone.

I’m 78 years old and they were worried about me going alone. Fortunately, I convinced one of my children to accompany me. Although there’s a tropical storm today, I believe that God is there; rain or shine, He will take care of us.

On Being Baptized

It’s like a very light feeling. There was something different, an unexplainable joy that made me cry when I received the baptism.

On MCGI Leaders

I hope that they will continually be blessed by God and Lord Jesus Christ. I’m hoping that the propagation will prosper, so more people will learn the truth and know the real way to salvation.

~o~

Sis. Florenia Vasques, 51, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

When I first heard Bro. Eli’s preaching, I liked it already.

My mother was listening to him when I went to her place, [so I got to] listen to Bro. Eli, and I really liked what he was saying. I found myself looking for his voice and the way he teaches.

We started [indoctrination] last week; I was with my mom. My mother listened to Bro. Eli longer than I did; I think it was just a week for me. When she invited me to attend a gathering, I immediately said, “Yes,” because I really wanted to hear more. Then we both got baptized.

On Being Baptized

My husband asked me why I’m going to get baptized because it wasn’t long since I started listening. I told him that I really wanted to get baptized, and that he shouldn’t stop me.

He wanted me to listen first and study it [for a longer time], but the very first time I heard the preaching I really wanted to be part of the congregation already. It feels really good. I’m moved with the things I’ve learned especially when verses were being read.

On MCGI Leaders

[May he receive] continuous blessings from God. I hope that his preaching will be heard worldwide, so he can help more people, more lost souls. Bro. Eli is truly one-of-a-kind.

~o~

Sis. Sherrly Ann Hernando, 34, Former Methodist, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

I believe that it is here [in the Church of God] that I have found the true meaning of life. I truly felt the love of God despite all the sins I’ve committed. It’s a big deal to me.

Before I was indoctrinated I had many questions in life. I’m 34 years old and I’m continuously in search for answers to life’s questions.

I used to watch on TV and surf the Internet for videos; it wasn’t regular. But then a friend of mine invited me to watch Bro. Eli again. Then one thing lead to another and here I am now. That friend of mine actually became my boyfriend and we got baptized today.

On Being Baptized

I can’t really explain the happiness I was feeling. I am so thankful because I’m changed, and my sins have been cleansed. Even if it’s raining really hard today I believe that God guided us here; nobody can stop us.

On MCGI Leaders

I thank God for giving us Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel as instruments to deliver His words, His true words that we use as guide in our daily living.

~o~

Sis. Nancy Magana, 56, Former Catholic, NCR

On Joining the Church of God

Even though I was able to attend indoctrination sessions before, by the time I was going to be baptized, something became a big hindrance to me. It was true what Bro. Eli said, something will try to hold you back, and you need to be strong.

Although what happened wasn’t really something that bad… It was my parents, they got sick. Now as I reflected on it, I decided to move forward with the baptism. It was a sign from God. I’ve accepted everything in my heart without any doubt. I am very happy that I’ve received his never-ending blessing.

On Being Baptized

I don’t feel troubled anymore. It’s like God has helped me with everything. Just last year, we didn’t even know how to properly pray to him. Now, we really are blessed to be here and serving him.

We discovered Bro. Eli through his TV and radio program. And we really contemplated on every word he says. Everything is purely from the Bible: Nothing more nothing less. The completeness is in the Bible itself.

I’ve been following Bro. Eli for five years now but I wasn’t paying much attention to it before.

On MCGI Leaders

I hope for everyone who are still searching and still confused to be enlightened through the Holy Spirit of God, through the preaching of Bro. Eli. I hope that the good words of God be inculcated in their minds and hearts. We are thankful to God. I am truly happy.

~o~

Bro. Angelito Caro, 49, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

It was because of Bro. Eli’s television program. I saw that it was purely biblical, and I’ve also done some reading on my part. I’ve realized that this is the true Church.
A long time ago I’ve already started watching the show. I think about two years ago, but I wasn’t avidly watching it. Lately, more or less three months ago, I’ve been following the program eagerly. Actually it was my wife and I who were watching it until the wee hours. Nobody told us about it; we were just flipping through the channels [when we found it].

On Being Baptized

I feel changed, like all my problems are gone. I feel relieved.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Eli, Bro. Daniel, thank you very much for the teachings that provide salvation for people.

~o~

Bro. Joel Embudo, 38, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

The truth is, I’ve joined different religions besides Catholicism. I also attended a gathering of the INC [Iglesia Ni Cristo], but I never found the truth that I was looking for.
Then when I went to Saudi to work, I was also a guest in some Born Again functions. It was okay at first. Even though the Bible is not allowed there, they had their ways to preach. Then time came that I got baptized there.

When I got home here in the Philippines, something changed; I wasn’t satisfied anymore, something was lacking. Although there were things they didn’t allow us to do, but it wasn’t enough.

A time came when our brother-in-faith invited me; he was my brother-in-law and a Church of God member at Saragoza. It was there that I fully understood that there was really a better teaching.

I’m really grateful that I am part of it now. I am now baptized and I am thankful to God. I know that my family will also benefit in this. I just hope I can also convince my wife to join.

I know that there is tropical storm but that’s not a hindrance. I am firm in my decision; my heart is set out. Like what is said, we should not put it on hold or leave it for tomorrow. So with God’s mercy we arrived here safely.

On Being Baptized

I feel very light, and it causes this unexplainable joy. I was able to let out all my wishes, my worries. I reflected on the sins I’ve committed before; it gave me relief.

On MCGI Leaders

To my leaders, I hope they will be guided by God always. I hope for them to continue to do good deeds. I know that Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel have many struggles, but those don’t stop them. They continue to lead lost souls and other brethren. May they be blessed by the Lord and be given strength to save more people.

~o~

Bro. Jerico & Sis. Arlene Canja, 32 & 27, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

Bro. Jerico: I’ve seen [the program] before on television and I realized that I wanted to join the congregation. But my wife, she didn’t know about it yet.

Sis. Arlene: Yes, I had no idea about it.

Bro. Jerico: I really waited for her. With God’s mercy, she agreed and so we went to be baptized together. I’ve been certain [about this] for 10 years now.

Sis. Arlene: I’ve only been certain about this last week. The indoctrination had a total of seven sessions. I attended all those. It was my first time to listen to Bro. Eli.

Last night I was still conflicted whether I should proceed with the baptism today. This morning, while we were travelling here, my child was having a fever. It was like there were too many stumbling blocks.

Then, the roads we were supposed to take were heavily flooded. We were stranded in Balintawak; the vehicle we were using seemed to be shutting off. We really needed to find a way to get here. Had we waited for the rain to stop, we wouldn’t get here in time.

When we got here, I contemplated about the events that were. I thought that if God was calling me, why should I have to wait for some other time. Also, I really understood the teachings that we were listening to every night.

On Being Baptized

Bro. Jerico: I felt a change in me. Of course, I was also a sinful man and I also wanted to change, to be free from the sins I’ve committed. This is the chance given to me to really start over, to begin to serve God.

Sis. Arlene: It was like I was feeling lighter. All the things that were bothering me are all gone now. I’m so happy also because we were baptized at the same time. It was like I wanted to jump, and I was smiling at everyone I see. I realized that this is the feeling when you finally found the truth.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Jerico: Thanks to Bro Eli because if he didn’t persevere, if he didn’t do his best to make ends meet with God’s help, we wouldn’t see him on television or on the Internet [through angdatingdaan.org].

Sis. Arlene: I hope that they will always be guided and be given strength. May they [get through all] trials and temptations, so they can help and teach more people like us.

~o~

Sis. Rubilyn Dungca, 33, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

I was able to listen to the doctrines, and that’s when my mind was opened to the beautiful teachings from the Bible. I learned what direction my life should be headed, and that all questions can really be answered by the Bible.

My brother is the deacon of our coordinating center in Saragoza, Tondo. Honestly, we were still in high school when he started listening to Bro. Eli. I once asked him what he was listening to but at the time, I was still uninterested in it.

There’s no storm that can stop me from doing what my heart is set out to do. From the very start, when I attended Bible Expositions, I knew I really wanted to continue this. I wanted to finish the whole indoctrination and get baptized. I felt like this one is really the right way.

On Being Baptized

I’m happy; it feels comfortable and light. It feels like all the pent up worries and resentments and sins that I’ve committed are gone. We really need to set ourselves free from all of that for us to move on and feel that our life is finally complete.

On MCGI Leaders

Thank you very much to Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel. I am thankful that they are instruments of God for us to learn all the beautiful teachings, and help open the minds of people who have lost their ways.

I learned that even though we made mistakes in the past, we can change; we just need to keep in our hearts and live by the teachings and doctrines that we will learn from them. I hope that the Lord will continue to give them good health so they can continue to propagate the words of God.

Both first and second runners-up came from the Luzon Region: Sasambahin Lagi (I Will Always Worship You) by Bro. Nestor Torres and Dinggin Mo (Do Hear) by Sis. Dalisay Painaga, respectively.

Moreover, Walang Hanggan Kitang Mamahalin (I Will Love You Forever) by Bro. Jojit Angon from the Asia-Oceania Division took the third-runner up prize during the finals night of the songs of praise writing festival.

Meanwhile, the Best Interpreter Award saw a triple tie: Sis. May Checa, Bro. Abigail John Operario and Sis. Lady Leoncio who interpreted Bro. Torres’ composition.

Bro. Eliseo F. Soriano and Bro. Daniel S. Razon, the Presiding Minister and Vice-Presiding Minister to Members Church of God International (MCGI), respectively, served as main judges during the ASOP grand finals night at the ADD Convention Center on September 29, 2014.

MCGI follows the calendar observed by the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles (Exo. 12:1-2; Matt. 26:1-57).

The MCGI Leaders started ASOP in 2004 in an effort to produce original songs of praise for the Almighty. To date, about 250 songs have been written by Church members in different languages and Philippine dialects.

A Group Effort

The winning song entries will then be recorded for MCGI brethren to listen to. Then in every upcoming ASOP finals, the Music Ministry will assist in the arrangement of each song entry.

In addition, Bro. Eli tasked the Helpers of the Ministry Bro. Danny Navales and Bro. Mel Magdaraog to take charge in improving their lyrics.

As Bro. Eli further announced, a group of composers who will craft songs for the Church will be launched soon.

ASOP finals entries come from various Church Divisions, wherein different eliminations are held to select their respective region’s participating song.

Introducing Songs of Admonition

Meanwhile, Bro. Eli announced the addition of a new song category: songs of admonition in future ASOP.

Citing Col. 3:16, The Old Path host explained that songs may serve as a reminder of God’s laws to people, like those telling husbands to love their wives or children to obey their parents. “That’s why I seek wisdom in songs,” the international evangelist added.

In his closing remarks, Bro. Eli invited all composers in the Church to submit entries, and stressed once more the importance of quality time and efforts to making the perfect songs of praise, “to be dedicated to the greatest person in the universe. And that is our Creator.”

ASOP Mid-Year 5774 Full List of Winners and Interpreter:

Sis. Cecillia Bulacqueña, 37, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

What Jesus Christ wants for us is to follow the Bible this way [the MCGI way], so I decided to join the Church. I learned about the Church through television, and my father and his friend. I got to first watch it when my dad was watching TV back in 2011.

I learned that we have to follow the doctrines we accepted. For me, all that were in it are true and should be obeyed.

On Being Baptized

I felt better after getting baptized. Compared to Roman Catholic baptism where they use holy water, baptism here is better because it was like how Jesus Christ got baptized.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Eli teaches excellently. He relays what God wants to communicate to people, what God wants us to do.

Sis. Raquel Dayan, 60, Former Catholic, Laguna Province

On Joining the Church of God

I was a Catholic. I tried another religion. My curiosity about God still wasn’t satisfied so I returned to Catholic, this time a different sub-group. Again, I still felt that there was something missing. I tried to get indoctrinated in the Church. It was okay. My husband, son and his wife are members.

My husband will celebrate his tenth year in the Church this September, while my son and his wife are members for a year and a half.

Everything I learned here is in the Bible. It’s saddening to realize that many years of my life were wasted.

On Being Baptized

It was light. When I started listening to the indoctrination, there was a strange feeling, as if I was cold.

On MCGI Leaders

Humanity needs them.

~o~

Bro. Ramon Pedro, 19, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

My previous religion was Catholic. After that I joined the Born Again. But there was still something lacking in doctrine, so I searched on the Internet and then I got to watch The Old Path on UNTV.

I felt that the doctrines in me were lacking so I investigated, and with God’s mercy, I found the truth.

I joined the Church because this is where I found Christ’s teachings that I did not hear from any other preacher. I found the truth by watching Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path] on UNTV, and searching videos on Youtube.

A brother in faith was instrumental for me to be baptized as well; it was when I met him at a dance group. I was able to prove that the doctrines being taught here are from the Bible. I couldn’t understand it before, but I learned the truth here and I realized that we really should obey God’s commandment.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Eli is a person who [shares] knowledge with us, and he does not lie to people about what he knows. I am indebted to God most especially because he called me. I’m also grateful for this chance. I also thank God for Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

Sis. Adela Villegas, 83, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

For four years, I have been inflicted by an illness. My husband has been a member of the Church for 14 years now, and he convinced me to get baptized too.

In my long years as a Catholic, there had never been a doctor who could cure my illness; I had been hospitalized for so many times. So when my husband told me to join The Old Path [the Church of God International], I immediately agreed.

However, the moment I replied “Yes” to my husband, I got possessed by evil spirits.
I was screaming and stammering. I didn’t understand what I was saying. It was the night before the indoctrination sessions.

They said my eyes were glaring at them. I couldn’t sleep for nights; I was anxious. I would go in and out of the house, walk incessantly and then I couldn’t walk; I couldn’t even stand so they had to put me on a wheelchair. My husband encouraged me and said “You can do it Adela.” They said I’ve been repeating that line for more than an hour.

Then I said, “God, please help me.” I got tongue-tied, and couldn’t speak anymore; it was like my tongue rolled back, and I wanted to stretch it out. Because I spoke like that for a long time, I was able to sleep because of weariness.

The next day, I got indoctrinated. And with God’s mercy the following night, I was able to sleep soundly.

On Being Baptized

Thanks be to God, after I was indoctrinated, I felt like a thorn was pulled out of my chest. I felt light. There was a great and inexplicable feeling after I got out of the water. It felt wonderful.

On MCGI Leaders

I thank God first and foremost. Secondly, to Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel for accepting and helping me. To our Church, thanks be to God.

On Joining the Church of God

I usually get to watch Bro. Eli’s programs on television, since 14 years ago, more or less. I’ve been married for 14 or 13 years as well.

There was this ache in my heart, as if the [teachings] were getting through to me. As time went by, I can say that I’m really being called [by God] as I had heavy trial, and until now I’m facing it. Perhaps that’s how He said to me, “You’re really erring,” so I decided to be a member.

On Being Baptized

First of all, I felt like having an out of body experience; I can’t fully explain how it was. I was in tears, but I also felt like I was floating.

On MCGI Leaders

I hope that God won’t take him [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] from us just yet; we all know it might happen someday, but I hope just not yet. He was like the pioneer. I wish he’ll be given more strength so he can continue to convince more people, like my mother who already passed away as a member of the Church.

I joined the Church of God because I saw that this is the true Church, and it’s where you’ll find the true teachings that will lead to salvation.

I started listening to Bro. Eli through television; it was the same time I entered INC around 2009; I was 13 years old.

At first, I thought that this was wrong and that was right. Then I also got to watch the show “D X Man.” I was mad because I thought the program was designed to attack the Iglesia ni Cristo. But as time passed by, as I listened… and the Youtube videos also helped greatly as there are many videos there, I got enlightened, listening for so long.

Thanks be to God He called me unto the true Church.

On Being Baptized

I’m really happy because finally I’m here, a member. I’ve been indoctrinated longer than the average because of my schedule at school. But in God’s will, I was baptized.

On MCGI Leaders

To Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, I hope that you will be given more strength, longer life to teach the pure truth and expose the corruption of other religions.

Bro. Roland Navarro, 66, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

When I started [listening] I was still very young. I used to watch Bro. Eli’s debates on television. I was really amused watching him. However, I didn’t take him seriously before, as I was young and I had a job.

Now, almost every day I watch him; it’s like he became my merienda. Every time I turn on the television, I want to be tuned into him. It’s because I feel that my sins are lessened.

I have a lot of vices: women, gambling and drinking. In other words, worldliness was in me already. But as I listen to him, it makes me feel like I’m being changed. I learned how to pray before I sleep; when I wake up, I pray also. I am thankful to him because my outlook in life was changed when it comes to my soul.

On Being Baptized

I am very thankful that I was able to fulfill the promises I made. I felt something left me, like my being hot-headed, things like that. I felt a lot of emotions in my heart when I got baptized. I felt different inside me. I said, “I got near [to God].” I hope He will not forsake me, that He would always guide me.

On MCGI Leaders

I am very thankful to them, for their preaching. I wish that they will always be in good health, have bodily strength, and that they may continuously be guided by the Lord that they may continue leading many more people to what is right, to the right [way] of God. I hope that no harm will come to their lives, and that they may always stay that way.

On Joining the Church of God

The truth is, I have friends and relatives of friends that are already members. Then one time I got to listen on the radio and through television.

Now, I tried to patch the bits and pieces of what I heard from it [The Old Path] and compared it to the teachings of my previous religion. It made more sense; it provided a clearer picture. That’s when I decided to attend one [indoctrination] session.

The very first time I heard the indoctrination, I felt like something sprung within me; my mind was opened. After that, I tried to ask one of the brethren in Carmona Coordinating Center if I could have a copy of the indoctrination session, so I could fully understand them. He said they don’t give out CD’s of the indoctrination, so I decided to attend the next session and so on, until I came to this day that I am now baptized.

Joining the Church also got me thinking not just about me, but my family, my children. I want to pass on this faith to them. By the time they are old enough to have families of their own, this faith will remain with them, and not the misguided one wherein I was born and raised. So this moment, I am really thankful to God.

On Being Baptized

I felt light; it was the first time I felt like that in my life. The truth is, when we were travelling yesterday, we were really in a hurry. I was from Antipolo because I had work and had to rush to the meet-up place because they were waiting for me. I haven’t even gotten the chance to take a shower.

It was a long travel, but we got here safely, and the thing is when we arrived I never had any change of heart. I had no doubts about what I was doing. The determination was in me; I thought to myself that this is the chance for me to finally give meaning to the things I don’t understand. So this is it. I’m full of joy, an unexplainably great feeling.

On MCGI Leaders

All I can say to him [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] is I hope that there will be more people like him. His preaching makes people understand. He is a blessed person. Praise the Lord for he has given Bro. Eli wisdom, and uses him as an instrument to care for people’s souls. Thanks be to God that I have heard his words through Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

Bro. Azriel Aquino, 17, Former Born Again, NCR

On Joining the Church of God

I have long since believed in this. Last year, when I was still in 4th year high school, I already knew that this is the [true] religion, but I just didn’t join because I thought religion was irrelevant.

When I learned, watching on Youtube, that baptism is needed, I went to [a locale] on August 21 and said that I wanted to be baptized. But they said that I needed to be indoctrinated first. So that’s the reason why I became a member. I don’t know if I would die before I got baptized, so I really went on with the baptism.

It was on Youtube, on the Internet – when my father watched – that [I got to listen]. When I was in the Born Again, people said that “That religion is fake; it’s a cult.”

However, when I got to listen [to Bro. Eliseo Soriano], everything is in the Bible. Everything Bro. Eli says is really in the Bible, so it’s no regard dubious.

I was a Roman Catholic at first. Then I got baptized in the Born Again at age 6 or 7. My father is Catholic; my mother is Born Again as well as our whole household.

On my mother side, I’m the first [to be a member here]. On my father’s side, he has a brother, my uncle, who joined here. He’s in the coordinating center in Pangasinan.

On Being Baptized

I feel somewhat different because I’m with so many different faces, and I’m alone; I don’t know anyone.

But still I’m thankful to God because I feel comfortable, though I don’t know anyone. Then, everyone cares for each other – an essence [of brotherhood] that is not being taught in other churches.

On MCGI Leaders

Many thanks because God used him as an instrument to teach the doctrines to all. I hope they won’t give up, won’t lose hope even if progress may seem slow.

In the Catholic, their progress in [conversion] is great because in the Church of God, people who do not wish to leave their sins will have a hard time. As Bro. Eli said, what we do here has quality since they are in the Bible, commandments of God. Other people do not join because they have sins. They can’t forget their women [and other vices], that’s why they’re still Catholics.

Bro. Jaycee Cubilo, 16, Former Atheist, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I wanted to know the truth. It was because of what I previously believed in and now I wanted to really know the truth.

I was an atheist because I didn’t believe in Him since I was in second grade up to high school. I was so focused on my studies, and on the scientific explanation on things.

When I was younger I got to watch National Geographic from cable TV and I depended more on the findings presented by scientists.

The turning point was when I was in 3rd year high school. I started to question things: Why did the Bible exist? I started doing my own research, and went to enter different religious groups. I didn’t get baptized in those groups; I just wanted to listen to their teachings.

My aunt and I live in the same house. She listens to [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] on the radio, so I get to listen as well. Whenever I would hear Bro. Eli’s [preaching], it would make me think. I would say to myself, “Right. He’s got a point.”

My aunt has the radio on loud, that I hear it as well. [Still I would say,] “Auntie, please crank up the volume.”

On Being Baptized

Of course I’m really happy; it was very uplifting, and I feel so enlightened.

Thank you very much for helping people and for exposing the truth. God Bless!
