INQUIRER: When a person always listens to the doctrines of the Bible, does he have a hope of salvation?
Bro. Eli F. Soriano (EFS): He has none. He just remains listening? In James 1:22 –
Bro. Daniel S. Razon (DSR): "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."
EFS: When you listen only but you do not obey, you are only deceiving yourself. You will not be saved. And it is very evil for a person who deceives his own self. Because when you deceive your self, you will deceive all people. Your spouse, children, those who are dear to you, you will deceive them all, because you have deceived even yourself. So remaining to be a hearer is evil. You should listen and obey. Saint Paul said to the Romans in Romans 2:13 -
DSR: "For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified."
EFS: The doers shall be justified, not the hearers only. Because even if you listen but you do not obey, you listen in vain. It states - Those who obey what they have listened to are justified before God. That is the answer.
