INQUIRER: Prove that the Church wherein you are a member is true.
Bro. Eli F. Soriano (EFS): You know, brother, it is God who bears witness, not man. It is useless if we accept the testimony of man. In I John 5:9 (Revised Standard Version) -
Bro. Daniel S. Razon (DSR): "If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater;"
EFS: It is God who must bear witness because the testimony of God is greater. Listen to II Corinthians 10:18 -
EFS: "For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth."
EFS: "...not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth." So, it is the Lord who must recommend. Now, how can God prove that we really are of God? Not of anybody else. The testimony of God is much better - what is in the Bible. The testimony of God is what the Scriptures say as - "He who is of God has no erroneous doctrine." In John 7:17 -
DSR: "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself."
EFS: "...he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." The doctrine of the one who is of God comes from God, not from the preacher. That is the testimony of God. You shall know if we are of God if our doctrines don't come from ourselves. And that is what we show to our fellowmen. When we teach, we read it from the Bible. Not from ourselves. That is the testimony of God. If a congregation is of God, its doctrine is not from itself. It came from God. And if it came from God, it can be read in the Bible. Anyway, you can see what our doctrine is, if it came from oneself or from God. You are the one who can judge that.
