INQUIRER: Because I am facing... There is something I want to accomplish. Now, I asked for signs, if I will do this thing or not. I asked for three signs. I already saw the two signs. Now, I am afraid that He will give the third. If I will not hear the signs I asked for, am I committing sin?
BRO. ELI F. SORIANO (EFS): If you will not hear it... Unless it is not God who gave it to you. You know, brother, for God to give you a sign, you must be completely a man of God. God gives signs to a man of God when He speaks to him. There are people who do not fully submit to God. You might be wrong in that point. Maybe it is not God who gives you the signs. You must be sure about that. Now, if you are sure that it is God who gives you sign, if you will not hear it, your salvation will be compromised. Do you know why, brother? Because God does not jest with anyone. Galatians 6:7 -
BRO. MEL MAGDARAOG (MM): "Be not deceived; God is not mocked:"
EFS: On that premise, you asked for signs, then when you were given, you would not listen, are you jesting with God? That is dangerous. If God was really the one who gave you the sign, you must be sure of that first. Maybe if you will just tell me what you were asking, and what sign was given to you, maybe I could help you analyze if it was really from God or not. But I do not have an idea so I cannot judge. I will just give you a reminder that God is not mocked. For example, you tell God something that you will do... Let us read Numbers 6:1 -
MM: "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:"
EFS: You know, there is vow in the Bible. If you made a vow, there is a law regarding vows. Numbers 30:2 -
MM: "If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth."
EFS: If you want, brother, I will give you an example. Before, I was watching a movie at the Love Theatre in front of Central Market. The former name of that theatre was "Love Theatre." The movie showing then was "Krakatoa, East of Java." While I was watching, some of the audience were romancing, then some gays there were groping. I told myself - "Cinema today is much different now than when I was younger. There were not much of that before." Then, suddenly, an earthquake struck. While it was shaking, I told God - "My Lord, just save me from this, and I will never watch in cinemas again." I prayed like that. So, since then, up to now, I never watch in cinemas anymore. And I witnessed that the Lord God is faithful to His promise. So, if you faithfully promise to God, He will not forsake you. Look. There was an instance when I was drinking beer, but when I gulped... In the past, I was really a drinker because I owned a restaurant when I was not a minister yet, I was not yet a member of the Church then. I owned a restaurant near UST. I was young then. I was only about 16 or 17 years old when I owned a restaurant. My friends and I were drunkards. One time, I was drinking beer, I choked. I could not breathe. I think I could not breathe for a minute. I was turning blue and I was gasping for breath. I thought - "My Lord, I will never drink again!" I said to myself. Since then, I never drank beer again. I experienced the mercy of God to me. Because the Bible says - "If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth." [Numbers
30:2] That is my reminder to you, brother. I do not know what you really mean. But these are reminders for you not to go astray. May the Lord be with you.
